Chapter 6
Millie
"If I thought it would be just the two of us, I never would have come," I snap, my eyes narrowing on Quinn. His narrow right back.
"Because you want all three of us fucking you?" Quinn asks. Loudly. Too loudly. And I just know heâs doing it on purpose.
A few of our classmates from nearby tables turn to stare. Iâm used to this sort of thing with Roar, but itâs different when theyâre all looking at me.
I can literally feel the flush traveling up my neck to my cheeks and the corner of Quinn's lips twitches. It's just a hint of a smirk, but I realize he did it on purpose. The ass. I should be back in my room studying and instead Iâm putting up with him.
âI think we should get more food.â Bray jumps to his feet.
I follow his lead, but Carter and Quinn remain seated.
âYou two go ahead.â Carter says with a pointed look at Quinn.
âCome on, Millie.â Bray grabs my hand and my breath hitches. Why do I feel this way when I know what he and his friends did to Elle?
I slip my hand out of his and follow him to the pasta line. Thereâs a handful of people ahead of us, waiting for the chef to create a custom dish with the noodles, protein and veggies of their choice. My mouth waters and I realize we have the same taste in food, Bray and I are. I would have gone for the pasta even if Bray hadnât and we both had the risotto. It makes me feel like weâre on the same page, even if that couldnât be further from the truth.
âYou were right the first time,â I blurt out, before I can think better of it.
âAbout what?â Bray turns around. The moment his hazel eyes land on me my skin burns under his gaze.
âUm...â It takes me a second to remember what we were talking about. âI donât want to be on this cruise. Roar convinced me to go.â
âSheâs the girl you were with by the pool?â Bray asks and Iâm surprised that, unlike practically everyone else, he doesnât know who Roar is.
I nod. âI was staying at her place this summer, so it was either coming here or going back to campus. I wouldnât have minded staying at the dorms early, but our room wasnât ready in time. And Roar said if I was going to stay at a hotel, I might as well come out here.â
âWhy would you have to stay at a hotel?â Bray frowns. âDonât you have...â
âAnywhere else to go?â I ask, making Bray sweat. âNo. My parents sold the house and moved to Europe.â They couldnât get away from the memories fast enough. Or get away from me.
Bray nods, like itâs perfectly normal for your parents to abandon you. He leans one tattooed arm against the counter, and the phoenix on his bicep reminds me of Elleâs Koala.
âI donât really get it, Bray...â I reach towards the green flames surrounding the phoenix but stop myself at the last second.
